Bringing Your Existing Phone Number Into TrustDrivenCare

Understanding Number Porting in TrustDrivenCare

When you join TrustDrivenCare, you have the option to bring your existing phone number into our system so your clients can continue reaching you through the same number they already know. This process is called number porting.

Porting allows us to transfer your current number from your existing phone carrier to the TrustDrivenCare platform, where all your calls, texts, and automations will be managed in one place.

What Is Number Porting?

Number porting is the process of moving your phone number from one carrier to another.

In this case, it means transferring your clinic’s or practice’s number from your current provider to TrustDrivenCare’s carrier partner.

Once porting is complete, your number will work entirely through TrustDrivenCare, allowing you to make and receive calls, send texts, and manage patient communication within your dashboard.

How the Porting Process Works - We'll help you through it all!

Here’s a general overview of how number porting happens:

  1. Submit Your Porting Request

You’ll first fill out a short form with your business and carrier details.

The information you provide must exactly match what’s on file with your current phone carrier.

Any differences, even small ones, can cause delays or rejection.

  2. Carrier Verification

Our carrier partner reaches out to your existing provider to verify your information and confirm eligibility for transfer.

During this stage, we also recommend asking your current carrier to unlock your number so the transfer can proceed smoothly.

  3. Compliance and Setup

Before the transfer begins, we register your business for A2P (Application-to-Person) messaging compliance.

This step is required by U.S. carriers to ensure your business texts and calls are properly authorized.

  4. Number Transfer

Once approved, your number is scheduled for transfer.

The porting process typically takes 2 to 4 weeks, depending on your carrier’s response time.

  5. Temporary Downtime

When the transfer occurs, there will be a short downtime, usually 8 to 48 hours, when calls and texts won’t go through.

    This is completely normal.

TrustDrivenCare provides a temporary backup number to keep your communication lines open during this time.

  6. Activation in TrustDrivenCar

After your number is successfully ported, our team finalizes the setup in your TrustDrivenCare account.

Once complete, your number will be active, and you can begin managing calls and messages directly through TDC.

Important Notes

After porting, your number will be fully managed inside TrustDrivenCare.

You’ll no longer be able to use your physical office phone system for calls.

Instead, calls can be forwarded to another number, answered through your desktop, or handled via the TrustDrivenCare mobile app.

You might see your number listed in your account before it’s officially active. This just means it’s pending transfer.

You’ll receive a notification once the porting is confirmed and live.
